I'm in the process of putting my engine back together, and of course, some gremlins stole some of my parts. For the life of me I can't find the stupid oil pump bolt, or the oil filter adapter (I think that's what it's called - piece the filter screws into)

Are these pieces easily obtained from a local parts store? I sure didn't have much luck finding them online (Ground Up has a whole OEM bolt section, but I didn't see the oil pump bolt) Would a Chevy dealer have them?

I would guess a well stocked NAPA store could help you out as well.

If you decide to order online, double check what you are ordering since for my examples above I didn't know if you were working on a SB or BB or what kind of a pump you are using. Whatever your application, one or the other has what you need.

Bill,
If it's a small block make sure to get the correct length oil pump bolt. There are two different ones and using the long one when you need the short one will cause a problem, and using the short one when you need the long one will cause an even bigger problem :( Probably best ot just buy a stud, it will fit both types of main caps.

I have a whole box of the filter adapters and bolts, if you wnt PM me and I can send you one and a stud kit for a good price.

Thanks for the info/links. I guess I should have waited just a bit longer before ordering, I would have taken you up on your offer Bill. Now I can't find the balancer bolt:clonk: I bagged and marked almost every part, except for the ones I'm missing. BTW, the engine is a 71 402
