I replaced my 396 with a 454. The 454 didnt have a oil filter adapter, but the 396 has one (5573842). I tried to put it on the 454 and the bolts are to small,what can i do to fix this. Also were can i find joe gibbs break in oil ?

Too small? are they too short, are they smaller thread size? If they are too short get longer ones.

Hi August, the 5573842 adapter is only used on blocks with a cannister type filter. It will not work on a 454", it is totally different!

The cannister threads in the early blocks are 1/4-20, the 454 threads for the later adapter are 5/16-18.

P.S. The G.M. adapter part number you need is 3952301, the casting number on that same part is 3952302.
