We've shook hands but I haven't said howdy... I figgered it was about time I joined up and intro'd myself since I've been posting for a few weeks now asking a bunch of questions.
Mark Cothren from Conway, Arkansas here... my first car was a '71 Chevelle Malibu and I've loved 'em ever since. I've always regretted selling that car, but at the time it made sense.
I've had a project going for a short time on a '76 Camaro LT that had come to a halt recently. It's going to take a fortune to get it back in shape, so it sits in my shop now in a bunch of pieces...
I recently posted in the WIW forum about a '72 Malibu Sport Coupe and I've made a deal on it and am picking it up tomorrow. It's mechanically sound (knock on wood) and is in need of some body work and paint. Other things to be done later as time and budget allow.
I've lived in Conway for 25 years now... married to a beautiful girl for 25 years now and we have two kids and two granddolls that are "Papaw's girls".
I'm an IT Process Engineer for a company here in town and work on an ITIL-based problem management team. I'm also an associate pastor at my church where I work with families and focus on men's ministry.
My current hobby is woodturning (http://www.flyingcurls.com/Cothren.htmlhttp://www.flyingcurls.com/Cothren.html) and I have an air-conditioned 24'x30' shop that holds my lathe and accessories, as well as my auto tools. That hobby is about to split time with workin' on a Chevelle!
From the department of Odd Facts Known By Few: I played college basketball at a small college here in Conway and played against Scottie Pippen (of Chicago Bulls fame) for 3 years. We actually worked together one summer at the same plant. One night I was welding school desks and he was my set-up man. About an hour into the night I turned around and he was gone. They found him later curled up in a big cardboard box on the loading dock asleep. He got fired that night. I don't think he missed those paychecks very bad...:boring:
That's about all there is to know about me. Hope to see you guys around a bunch and hope you don't mind answering questions, cuz I'll have a million of 'em I'm sure!
Mark
