I've scanned this site and can't find anywhere, the torque specs on the replacement Ball joint nuts for a 1967 Chevelle "I'm talking the 4 nuts that hold the ball joint to the A Arm". The assembly manual doesn't cover it because they were riveted on, the instructions say to refer to service manual:cool: Can someone tell me how much to tighten these down. I went to 30 ft. lbs., hope that's enough.

Also, The Assembly Manual doesn't talk about torque specs on the Upper control Arm Bushings, just the shaft to the frame, not the nuts on the end of the shaft... seems a little strange:sad: does anyone know the torque specs and if this needs to be done with the car on the ground first?
Thanks,
Clay

I agree with novaderrik. Tight. :)

I have the book too, and some stuff they don't have torque specs for. When that's the case, it's just a judgement call. Usually that means pretty darn tight depending on application.

There's a fine line between doing the job right and overanalyzing everything. Especially for me since it's my first time through this. In some cases I'm learning, there's no scientific approach. At some point you gotta bolt it together and forget it. :)

Plus it's a taper. Once it hits it's there. Then the cotter key goes in and it aint going anywhere.
