I asked the seller about it and this the answer I received

I purchased a large lot of NOS GM/Assembly line parts for a long time retired GM employee. I got several sets of hood pins in the lot, and only one pin still had a package. I am keeping this one, for my own personal collection. I have a 70 Chevelle SS. My feedback speaks for itself. Hood pins for the GM A Bodies were made for several years from a few different manufacturers. There was a strike in 1970 as well. I am telling you this before you bid, because opinions vary on many NOS parts. II have already sold a few pair, and the winning bidders were very happy with them. Hope this helps your decision to bid or not.

I have seen this many times on eBay...not the hood pins but other NOS stuff where they say package not included. What I hate is the sellers that list repro parts and put " NOS QUALITY" in the header to catch any searches for NOS. There is a seller that does that with wiring harnesses as well...he says they are " painless to install"

I don't care if they are genuine pins or not. I wouldn't pay $55 for for hood pins.

I saw this ad on Ebay. Two NOS hood pins shown with GM packaging but in the description below it states the packaging is not included in the sale.I have feeling your going to get a couple Chinese made pins for your 50 bucks.

The reason I won't buy NOS parts, that I'm not holding in my hand when the money changes hands. Guys have been dumpster diving at dealerships for decades for GM boxes. I was already seeing parts in the 90's at Carlisle, In GM boxes with the wrong part number for the part inside, well repo part. All the NOS stuff I sold, people always insisted on having the boxes. Soooo, buyer beware, as always.

I could swear Ebay started putting a stop to this sort of thing and changed thier policy about these type of auctions because it go so bad with sellers showing the packaging and not including it with the sale. Perhaps im wrong or they stopped enforcing it.

Every time I see this, I report the auction and put "keyword spamming" in the report. Unfortunately unless a lot of people do the same thing I doubt that anything will happen. I would hope that if enough people complain about the same seller, they would do something because it is in violation of the user agreement.

LOL, I agree. I remember those door strikers, several sellers caught on and were doing it. If you search NOS in this guy's auctions, you will see other stuff is doing the same with. He has a different excuse each time as to why the packaging isn't included. What are the odds that for each group of NOS parts he has, he only has packaging for one piece and it doesn't even show a part number or the correct one except for the hood pins. Who wants to go to Home Depot and get a pair?

Also, this assembly line worker was really grabbing a lot of stuff and taking it home. haha The GM wrapper with those hood pins is from the late 70's at the earliest. Were those pins used on any other applications in the late 70's/early 80's when this guy apparently took them off the assembly line?

Condition: New: A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item in its original packaging (where packaging is applicable). Packaging should be the same as what is found in a retail store, unless the item was packaged by the manufacturer in non-retail packaging, such as an unprinted box or plastic bag. See the seller's listing for full details

You know guys, the other possibility is that he is telling the truth ???? GM did sell a lot of parts in bulk and if they were destined for the production line they certainly would not have been individually packaged. I have purchased electronic parts in bulk for pennies on the retail dollar so its not all that hard to imagine. Same goes with engine parts.

The guy has 100% positive feedback so the parts must be fairly decent ?? I guess my point is we are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. Unless someone has purchased a set and compared them with the OEM ones and found them inferior, then we really should not be saying anything negative.

Just another opinion.
