As i was cruisen yesterday, my engine suddenly bogged for half a sec, then backfired LOUD! After that, the engine died and won't start. I know i'm not gettin spark at the plugs, and i am gettin +12 to the coil....what i dont know is how to test whether the coil or the distribtor is bad. Both are about 5 months old and have never given me problems before. This is a accel billetproof pointless distrib and a round mallery coil. Help! this is my only transportation!

John,
I just tried that test, i held the wire from the coil to the dist by a ground and turned it over, no spark. However, someone told me that the distributor could cause these symtems. Do you know a simple test i could do on the dist? it is a pointless type with 3 wires.
red +side of coil
green -side of coil
brown ground.

Thanks,
Luke
