Here is what I believe to be my last electrical problem for now. I have no power to my brake switch that's in front of my brake pedal. any tips on tracing back the problem. The orange wire should be the hot one...correct?
I'd appreciate any help.
Yes, orange is always hot, even with the key off. Have you dug into the fuse clips with your meter? Do it as you press on the brake pedal. That way you are loading down the line. Believe it's the bottom fuse left hand side of the box.
I had this type problem on my 1975 Corvette. Someone back in the history of my Vette had wired a capacitor across the orange and white wires just before the brake light switch. The capacitor didn't show up on any circuit diagrams, so it must have been a dealer or Bubba that installed it. When the capacitor died of old age my brake lights quit working. I also didn't show any power to the orange wire.
When I clipped the wires to the capacitor, my brake lights worked again.
