Hi everyone. I will be getting my 70 Chevelle to the track for the first time, (first time running at the track for me)
I wanted to remove the front inner fenders for some weight reduction, but I am confused after reading the NHRA rulebook. A few sections mention that having no inner fenders is prohibited, and other sections say it's fine, also depending on what class you car will be in. I have no idea what class I will be in. My car is modified a lot from stock, but its no where near an all-out track car.
I just do not want to remove them, and fail tech inspection. Can anyone please offer some clarification for me? I really appreciate it. Thank you! :D

If I did remove the front inner fenders, can I still pass tech inspection with the steel braided heater hoses supported on the small lip from the outer fender under the hood?
Plus the electrical wiring on the driver's side is mounted on the driver's side inner fender, if I wrap that with some protected covering do you guys think the car will still pass?
Or would I have to eliminate the heater hoses, and re-route the wiring on the driver's side?
I just remembered that stuff now.

our tech guys never said anything about inner fenders here. but my cars have them. The mainly look for 12" or less rubber fuel lines. dual return springs. battery hold down and a overflow bottle for the rad. Oh and all the lugs and lugnuts. If running a mag wheel the stud has to protrude from the nut 3/4 the length of the with or something like that.
If your car has nice paint, I would leave the fenderwells on it. Last thing you want is the front wheel to kick up a rock from under the fender. jim
