I think I've been watching too many youtube videos with car crashes. There's even some out there specifically titled "Muscle car crashes". I had a nightmare last night that really freaked me out. This is not far fetched at all scenario considering I'm sure we all know how cars like ours attract the idiot drivers out there..... Here's my dream (This didn't happen just a dream!) ....I'm having a nice drive in my Chevelle and pull up to a stoplight. Then some guy in some drag car pulls up next to me. The light turns green and he guns it, loses control, cuts me off, hits the ditch and rolls. My first thought is I think that dude is dead and then my immediate next thought is almost any witness is going to say we were "drag racing". This actually brought up another thought. Do I need to stop? I'm thinking I just call 911 and thats maybe it. Here's the IL law (I looked it up). This is from Legal Aid.com

"There’s no “duty to rescue” in Illinois. Bystanders can’t be liable for doing nothing to help someone.
You can be liable for bad help. Or for starting to help, and stopping. If you do something, you must act reasonably.
The Illinois Supreme Court summed up the basic legal rule in a 1996 case: “Our common law generally imposes no duty to rescue an injured stranger upon one who did not cause the injury in the first instance.”

Anything like this actually happen to someone or someone you know? I've had tons of people blow by me in their cars. I get idiots pacing next to me wanting to race. Guys following me in their souped up VW's, Mercedes, etc....you name it.

Maybe you should drive in the country more.......stay out of the cities. That's what I do. No shows, no hassles , no wrecks, no problems, no freeways, just me and my ride and the 2 lane blacktop. Keeps it simple. Seems there's too many idiots out there.
I grew up in Illinois, so I know what you're saying.

Well this wasn't a nightmare it was real, I owned my 69 Chevelle SS at the time and I had just got it out of the body shop and the owner told me now don't bring it back to me anytime soon. He had gone through a lot of grief with the insurance company and when he went to paint it he didn't realize the car was totally repainted with clear coat on it. The paint all cracked when he re-sprayed it. The next night I'm out with the car sitting at a stop light checking out a girl walking down the street. The only thing the kid behind me driving a 69 Camaro was checking out the girl too and plowed into the back of me. That was it I went to the dealer ordered a new 70 Nova SS never had the damage fixed and traded the Chevelle in on the Nova. It just seemed like that car was jinxed and it was time for it to go. Not my Chevelle but real close to it didn't ever get a picture of it.

My ex g/f in hs told me that she saw a person burn up in a car crash on the side of the highway. I think they were driving back from spring break. Nobody could get near the flames. The bystanders were all helpless and all she could do was cry while waiting for cops and firetrucks.

After watching the video above, I'm guessing there is a WHOLE LOT of wanna be race car drivers that didn't grow up like I did learning to handle old cars and trucks on gravel roads and on icy roads and parking lots. Most of these drivers seemingly have no clue how to get a car back under control once it gets crossed up. Before I got my old 1969 C10 repainted, it probably traveled as many miles sideways as it did forward

Oh wow, that ^ watching someone burn up would be really hard or impossible to forget.

Years ago, I saw a three-bay service station burn up one time when the owner had built an add-on hardware store room over the top of the gasoline storage tank vents and the gasoline truck was filling the tanks.
I watched as they threw three screaming kids into a car to rush them to the ER where two of them died and I cannot forget that screaming even today.

Back to the nightmares, I've been having nightmares and dreams all night long every night for, I'm thinking probably over a year or more now.

Most of the time I only remember little parts of the dreams but sometimes something will happen or be said that will remind me of something in a dream I had.
The odd part is that sometimes I think "did really do that or did I just dream it". (weird)

It says in the Bible something like "in the last times, your old men will have dreams".

I've always stopped at accidents I witnessed. First to see if I can help anyone and second to be available as a witness. I remember at least three car accidents I witnessed and went to help the people. One intersection crash I got out of my car and went through the driver's open window to throw her minivan in park as she was stunned after being t-boned and rolling through the intersection. A passing driver felt the need to curse me out for having left my car in the traffic lane I was in while he maneuvered through the wreckage.

I've never worried about my potential liability and I'm an attorney. I may be more inclined to stop having been the victim of a hit and run when I was 19 and people stopped for me.

I never saw an accident that I could be witness to but once on a major highway near me I saw a guy hit a tree but it was on the opposite side of the road and there were concrete barriers blocking my crossing toit.
What I saw was a pickup truck sliding and swerving in the dirt off of the side shoulder of the road and then he hit a tree. The guy came flying out of the truck door like he opened it and like he was trying to get out of it fast but when I saw him hit the windshield post with his head and then fall out towards the ground I knew he didn't want that to happen that way. Also as fast as he got ejected out of that doorway there was no way he could have had on a seatbelt.
Now I'm on the opposite side of the road and doing a minimum of 65 so I wouldn't be a good witness but I could have stopped and helped if no one on the other side hadn't stopped.Luckily for him I saw a car slowing down on the shoulder, that was the last thing I saw in my L side view mirror.
Seeing that happen had always haunted me.I was in my early 40's and had extremely good vision at that time,so I got a good look at him hitting the tree and launching out the door.If it had happened today I would have never even got half the look I got back then.My straight ahead vision is still good but my peripheral vision isn't what it used to be.

I don't think I've had a nightmare in years. No waking up scared, sweaty, worried. I do have confusing dreams that puzzle my reality for a bit when I wake. Lots of hs football, college, and girlfriend dreams. About half the time I know it's a dream so I'm me today in youthful form. In other words, the mature version of my youth. I'm patient, caring, and not impulsive. So, I take my time. This results in never getting to play a down or score with the girl! lol

I have so many unknown/unnamed girls in my sleep. I accept them all as my g/f. The relationships are very loving but not too sexy. When I wake I have to really concentrate on whether they were real at one time. Just had one last night about a petite blonde with straight hair. We were so happy together. I felt like I knew her a long time. I could feel every part of her body, and she trusted me doing so.
But that was as far as it went.`

I've seen a few crashes over the years...rather forget them but oh well. Early 90's I was going to work at about 5am and was east bound on a 2 lane hwy. Got up on a hill and could see a mile and half in front of me to the next hill. Saw a set of head lights twisting / twirling in the morning darkness. When I drove up to it I found a hood and A frame assy with tire attached laying in the hwy. Car had rolled and was laying on it side. Called 911 and then flaged the next 2 cars that came by. One was an ER nurse and told the other guy and myself that we needed to get the car back on it's belly to get the guy in the car out. We had already tried to get the doors open but they were jammed. Both of us said no cuz the guy was in the back seat and not moving and we should wait for the squad to show. She said she would take reponsablity for it. So we rocked it until it rolled back onto the frame. The guy was in the back seat with his head facing the wrong way and Mario Bros music was playing on the radio....I walked away and said F..k this. The nurse told me to stay cuz i was the 1st one there. I got another one but it's worse than this one...not going there...

Old thread I know, but I wanted to add that I do get random premonitions during sleep.

Back in 1994 I awoke with a start after a disturbing dream. The scene in my mind was the entrance to an old neighborhood I used to live, some 70 miles away back in 1970. In my dream there were 2 smashed-up cars and bodies on the road. A really strange dream to have out of the blue. A day and a half later I was talking with my mom on the phone when she told me a lady I knew had been killed in a car accident. When I asked where and when, it happened, I was told "in the wee hours of the previous morning", in other words at the same time I had the nightmare. Where? Exactly where I saw it in my vision.... Freaked me out, but there are others.

I was thinking out of the blue about Micheal Nesmith from The Monkeys, in less than 24 hours it was announced that he had passed.

One time I was driving to work when I thought to myself, "how would I get to work if they closed this ramp?" One hour later I had a customer come in who apologized for being late due to that very ramp off the highway being closed minutes after I came through it, due to an accident.

I have had a strange dream involving a company I used to work for. In it I was attending some company function where the entire division was in attendance, which made no sense, as I was working elsewhere at that time. It was clear in my dream about meeting people, and other people that I was looking for were MIA. Weird and irrelevant I thought. The next day I went to work and had a Doctor's appointment before noon. I called up an old peer from that old job when, before I knew it, I had been invited to a retirement lunch for 2 colleagues. So I ended up going, and it played out exactly as I saw, right down the the specific missing persons.

There was a time I was driving along the 401 in my car when I just felt like getting out of the fast lane and letting others have at it. I just felt uneasy for some reason. Within 2 minutes every car that passed me was involved in a multi-car crash. I was unaffected.

One time I was waiting for a traffic light to change on a frosty morning. For some strange reason I held back from the line at the intersection. The next minute a car tried to make the corner but slid right to the spot that I would have been waiting. It would have been a collision.

There are probably dozens more I could relate. No I am not superstitious, and no I don't have luck at the lottery (except the lottery of life).

I don't know, sometimes you need to listen carefully for a still, small voice. You also have to recognize who's voice it is.

Am I scaring you yet? LOL.

Back in 1989 when I was an impoverished uni student I had a dream I was in the accident and emergency at hospital lying on a gurney with doctors and nurses fussing around me cleaning up my wounds. I woke up and thought "Glad that was just a dream!". Twelve hours later, there I was in the hospital on a gurney with nurses cleaning up my gravel-rash after I crapped off my motorbike and body-surfed down the road at 100 mph...
