I'm new to this group but I've owned my Chevelle for 30 years. It was the first car I bought in 1983 after enlisting in the Navy and being stationed in Oakland, CA. I bought the 1969 Chevelle Malibu 2 door hard top in Napa, CA. from the original owner. The car has gone through some changes over the years. If people are interested in the story I would be glad to share.

The car was in very good condition when I first saw it. The original owner had replaced the original 307 with a target master 350 when the 307 started using oil. Since the car was a Calif. car it had no rust. The color was green on green. Not my favorite color or shade of green.

So I was young and wanted a Hot Rod. I put a an intake, headers, 50's on the back and 60's on the front. I had the car painted and an L88 hood scoop put on. The car was painted 1977 Cadillac black witch green. It looked black at night but during the day you could see the dark green. I took the bench seat out and found some buckets at the salvage yard. They are from an early 1970's Camaro.

So the story continues. I brought the car back to ND where as you can imagine it started to rust. I was sent on deployment so I had my Mom and Dad take the car out once a year. That didn't stop the rust. So it sat in a friends barn during the winter.

:hurray:I decided that it's time to do something to give the car a new life. I really like Will Ferrell as Ricky Bobby. If you've seen the movie he learns to drive again in a 69 chevelle. So I have decided to turn my car into a clone Ricky Bobby.

I've been wanting to do this for a couple years. I just needed to find the right person or persons. The way it turned out I found a person who I felt was right for the body work and another to do the interior. I took most of the car apart myself. That helped save some money. Seats are done.

Here's a peek at the body work. Rust wasn't terrible as you can see from previous pictures. I ordered most of my parts from OPG. I bought the patch panels to fix the rust issues on the lower quarter panels. Since I had a huge hole cut into the original hood I had to come up with another plan. I decided to replace the hood with an SS hood from OPG.

If you know Ricky Bobby then you know the car I'm making a clone of. The body person sent me to the local paint store to pick out colors. I had down loaded several pictures of the car from the internet. And tried to match the original colors that were on the movie car. Gold - Black and red. I hate making major decisions like this. What if I pick a crap color. The samples they have in the store can look so different once on the car. Here's a peek at the car as we progress. The person doing the body work is a perfectionist. He insisted on being true to doing an exact replica of the Ricky Bobby. You tell me, are we close?

Wow! Is all I can say. I am super excited about how the car has turned out. I went with American Racing wheels and BF Goodrich TA's which I think look perfect on the car. I couldn't find a cougar, but a cheetah will do. All the little kids thought it was real and wanted to pet it. I took the car out for it big reveal Thursday night. People went crazy. I can't believe how happy the car made people and that was my goal. Here are some pics for you.
