I have a new valve springs to install along with my Voodoo 60201 cam & lifts. Do I install the new valve springs before or after the cam break in?

Thanks,

If you have motor in car just use old springs. Once your 20 minute break in is done let engine cool. Fire up air compressor set to 80 or so screw in air hold and remove and install new springs. Try to find a stud mount spring compressor they work best for this procedure.

What are your old springs? On one hand, its true that you want to remove the inner springs for breakin, so the old ones may be wimpy springs that dont have lots of pressure making them a descent candidate for cam breakin. Then again, are you sure they arent going to bind on you? That wont help your cause.

If it were me, I would have never even though to use old springs for the breakin. It just wouldnt have crossed my mind, so I wouldnt have done it. Now that you bring it up, it sounds like a possiblity in some cases, but then I also wouldnt want to take the time to figure out how those old springs actually check out to figure if they would work(if they are unknown springs). So, Id probably just use the proper springs anyways with the inners removed for breakin. That eliminates one more possibility for error.

I would NOT use the old springs, especially not if they are stock or stock replacement, and I was putting a larger cam in. I can think of few worse things to do, than to attempt to break in a new cam, under the very conditions (potential coil bind) that you're trying to avoid by replacing the springs in the first place.
