Yea, I am going for no more than 425-450hp, so I think the 255LPH in tank option will be best. I am relying on the shop for the install and wiring aspect. Which shouldn't be too bad with the Terminator X Max.
Also - I did all the Holley EFI gauges and that was amazing. Flawless sync and they work amazing.

Also - are you running stock injectors? There’s so slick injector math to make sure they can handle your HP goals. Not sure if the stock ones can cover 425hp, may be at their limits. I don’t know for sure so maybe someone else here can chime in.

I put a aeromotive tank in my 67 . Works great, no starvation even with 2 gallons left in tank

425-450 hp from a 5.3 your going to need 220-224 range cam and some good heads. It’ll need to spin about 6500-6700 rpm’s and a 3200 stall. I have that exact 5.3/4l60e setup on a engine stand it made 340 rwhp 315 torque through a 9 inch.
Check out Texas speed 5.3 heads and a 224r cam.

I was plannong on using OEM with the Holley in tank pump 255 to feed the fuel rails. Is a surge tank really essential for a low power build?

I have used surge tanks before for vehicles where I was auto crossing and could have fuel starvation issues.
You don't need a surge tank, but it can sometimes simplify the plumbing. Sounds like you've got the fuel system thought out. The VaporWorx regulator I mentioned is a PWM system that avoids running the pump at full speed during low fuel demands. Maybe this is more of an issue with bigger fuel pumps.

Does anyone happen to know the length of the driveshaft I would need to mate the 5.3, and the 4L60? My shop also said I would need a different trans mount as well.
I highly recommend waiting until the engine and trans are installed before ordering a driveshaft. No way in hell would I order one on someone else's build.

Yea you are right. I ordered the trans mount kit. I guess they are getting started on the swap so I ordered all the goodies needed for the mock up etc. I almost forgot about the LS swap on the Chevelle because they are doing a Monty Carlo as well, and I have been working on a new project a 69 C10 for the wife.

Just a fair warning, those intakes look awesome but they really kill low end torque. The Very Ugly stock truck intake will beat it to 6000rpm, and the still ugly but more powerful TBSS intake to 6500rpm. I went with the TBSS on my 408 build and plan on building a "beauty cover" for it down the road. Both of those (and the LS6) make a good 30+ ft-lbs more torque from 2500-5000rpm. Just some info for you, it really comes down to whats important to YOU, Looks or power. If your looking for a cheaper radiator and fans, Holley has some pretty good "clearance" deals up on the website and eBay store.

The shop sent me some photos yesterday!

The 5.3 is on the stand, and getting some love. Cleaned out, inspected, painted block, new seals and springs in the heads. Cam is ready to go in as well. I have new valve covers, block off plate, lifters, intake etc all ready to go.

I still need to get the Terminator Max, Radiator and fans and some other misc items.





Sorry to ask, but when I see pics like this, I wonder what exactly is the shop supposed to be doing for your hard earned dollars?
