Going to see for myself this weekend. My friend who is working on my 69 chevelle just called and said the hood shipped ok however it is off by a full inch. I do not remember if he said the right front or the left front. Regardless HOW DO I FIX THIS. I am sure this has had to happen to someone besides me. Was going with glassteck at first but i wanted the underside to be finished. THANKS FRANK

Man that sucks...Hopefully they will fix it or get a new one...I buy stuff and keep it stored then decide to use it couple years later...Like my harwood 4in cowl hood on my chevelle...Its one inch shorter on the driver's side! Big gap..it sucks...trying to decide myself wether to build it up...Hope you have good luck...btw bought a set of fiberglass fenders for 71-72 chevelle from usbody... heh I would damn near give them to someone to get them out of my garage they are so poor made!

x2. Help yourself and help others that might have this problem in the future. If manufacturers get away with it, they wont change it. Unless the selling ad stated that the hood will have minor flaws, be short, have problems, etc that will need to be corrected per your own application then its junk and should go back.

to correct it I would think you would need to add glass, much like one would add metal to take up gaps with a metal hood. Glass, sand, prime and paint. If you are missing material and its causing a gap, cannot be adjusted or shimmed out then I think the only option is to add material to take up that gap.

Best option, IMHO - return it with a note specifying why it was returned. Make a call to them.

Did a '68 Mustang Conv 6 years ago. Bought the Shelby trunk and 1/4 extensions. Was told going in, these were race-car parts made from old molds and not show quality. So, at least I knew that going in. Fortunately, fit and finish was not as bad as what they had prepared me for. Everyone likes banging on "how the quality of these cars was not that great when originally built". But, I have yet to see any original parts (talking body panels, trim and the like) that are not "substantially" better than the re-pop today.

I am hoping that it turns out to be just a matter of adjusting. if not i will call harwood and explain what is going on. 1 hood, low tension springs and shipping cost me $640. also i am told it will cost around $450 more to prep and paint both sides. ? is that in the ballpark ? THANKS GUYS

someone to paint both sides...not suprised at all...time the guy buys that materials and his labor...Prob right...My buddy doesn't have a big body shop or buisness or anything. I know he charges 250 bucks a hood and he's cheap...Lol Thankful for good a good friend :). But that price sounds ball park for someone in buisness... I know around where I live its so hard to get anyone to paint or do body work on old cars..All insurance jobs (easy money).....

jUST GOING TO HAVE THEM PAINT THE ENTIRE CAR. BUY THE TIME THEY BLEND IN THE FRONT END ( BOTH FENDERS ) AND TRY TO TOUCH UP THE OTHER TROUBLE SPOTS, IT WOULD BE EASIER TO JUST SHOOT THE ENTIRE CAR. AT THIS POINT OUT ANOTHER 5K AT LEAST TO MAKE IT RIGHT. (LESSON LEARNED ) FIND A CAR THAT SOMEONE HAS 50K INVESTED AND BUY FOR 1/2 THAT WITH CASH. THANKS FOR RESPONDING ( SORRY FOR THE CAPS ) FRANK
