Hi there guys, I'm writing from Rio de Janeiro, BR

Me and my friend bought two barn find Malibus and we started working on them o couple years ago.

Mine's a 67 Malibu , 6 cylinder, 3 on the tree, gold with gold interior

He's a 70 Malibu 307 V8 / Powerglide in Triple Blue with bench seats

No rush to finish, specially because parts are impossible to find around here (or way too expensive)

But we carry on. Here's a couple o pics from the day we rescued them.

Cheers

Artur

Thanks!!! It is always fun! We had/have a few others. At the moment I have a 68 Impala SS and another 72 malibu , a sport sedan. My friend also has a 74 Camaro with all build-up 350 and a 4 speed. It roars. Also, my wife just bought a 69 Caprice with a 327 (full restoration needed here)

Nice ! I remember back in the early 1980's my father in law had a 68 Caprice with a 427 (385 hp ) and auto . It was nice driving it , smooth and much more low end torque than my 68 383 roadrunner .

I love GM and specially Chevy. I grew up with my grandfather teaching me about cars in chevys (and some fords). But I made the right choice haha. Do you believe Corcel is a model of a car Ford made here in the 70's? Looks like a small Maverick. (just put an S at the end most times haha)

Ok let me ask another "dumb American" question.... I know Brazil is ( was) a big bio fuel exporter? Can you easily get high octane fuel ( 91+) or an E85 type fuel?

We did plenty of work already! But they'll be on the streets in no time

I knew the car for 3 years before the old owner decided to finally sell haha. Love it!

Here we have basically 5 kinds o fuel. Normal Gasoline is 87 with 27% of Ethanol . Premium gasoline is 97 with 25% of ethanol. Pure Ethanol (we use mostly in turbo charged projects since it can handle lots o boost). Diesel of course and Gas (literally natural gas from a big yellow cylinder in the trunk), which is the cheapest fuel to run cars here. There are no cars with diesel engines (it's forbidden) , only trucks and semi.

Here is how mine is sitting today:

I've taken the body off and did the frame, suspension, some rustwork and all the undercarriage. The old guy that used to drive it in the 80's hit a VW Bug and the entire left fender, door and A pillar came a little bit off. It took sometime to get it done. The rest of the car is straight. It has been sitting since the crash, and it has around 90k miles. Perfect back seats. Front seats are torn cos it was his dog's house (for generations of dogs). He also used the arm rest to put out his cigarrets (cos the ashtray was probably full all the time!
