Just bought a 1969 CHEVELLE SS CONVERTIBLE Today I love this car bout to start restoration

Looks like you got a good one to start with, It has the Malibu chrome down the side and the front marker light that has the engine size beside it. SS doesn't have that so I go to say its a Malibu. But you can make it what you want. I cloned mine to a SS. SS cars has a L on the data tag under the hood not positive if the all do. Also where the steering arm connects to the steering box SS have a bolt that holds the flange on the steering arm. Malibu is pressed on.

thanks for the info so your thinking by the chrome its a malibu ? was hoping a true ss but if not willbe one when im done with it

SS cars have a "L" on the data tag under the hood not positive if the all do.

Only the Baltimore and Kansas City plants used the "L Code."

I knew Kansas cars had it but wasn't sure what other plants did.

As long as you didn't pay real SS money for it then it doesn't really matter. That said, no matter what you do to it it will never be a 'true' SS. A lot of people here care about that a great deal (personally I don't). Just throwing that out there. Best of luck with the resto.
