Im building a 350 and have been researching head/cam/intake combinations that will best suit my needs and what i want out of the build. I see these top end kits that they offer from companies like trick flow and edelbrock. But are they really worth the 2K? I want to get around 400-425hp and as much torque as possible. (whether it be from idle to 5500 or 1500-6000 with a stall converter) Gas mileage isnt too big of a concern with the cam as it isnt a daily drive. Im just trying to gather experiences (good and bad) as I lack in the experience department.

Thanks,
Matt

the kits are probably about the same price as if you bought everything seperate, what is done to the bottom end, is it stock?

I'm still thinking about the bottom end. It won't be completly stock but it's all going to be hooked to a rebuilt th350 and a new posi. Haven't had the time to crack it open to figure out the gear ratio. But that's all going to come eight the transmission rebuid

For your money I think you could get more power if you put your own combo together.
Most "Kits" are on the mild side IMO.
Tons of SBC builds on here. See what you have inside. Mike Lewis AKA Wolfplace is a great source for heads if you go new.

I'm building the 355 for my Nova, and I bought all my stuff separate. I bought the Lunati 60112 Hydro roller at .535/.550 lift, 231/[email protected], the AFR 195 street heads and I have a performer RPM. The short block is basic but with good parts, it will be about 10.3-1 which was stock for the 70 350/300hp L-48.
