Found a '68 Camaro RS, 6 cyl with glide, Silver with black vinyl roof in a barn with all the trim there and very minor body panel rust, solid trunk and floors...Interior needs refurbishing. I won't reveal price until I strike a final deal, but it isn't a lot. :hurray:

i personally have never seen an rs, with a six. i'm not a camaro expert, but i've owned two rs's, and have seen many at car shows, never a six. not that rs's aren't rare enough as it is, but with a six, i'd bet that's a pretty rare ride. had a friend once with a six in a 69 camaro, that little engine with a few mods, made tons of torque. from street light to street light it was quick, and surprised quite a few rides, but would die in longer runs. in the quarter, he'd get out to a great lead, then the eights would just blow by at 1,000ft....

Going to do a little research, my Camaro buddy says Yes, 6's with the RS.

Anyway, a nice 383 or 406 would find a home between those fenders and I would bag the original motor if #'s match. I have a few SB's but then maybe a 496 would fit nice too...

Good luck, I hope you make the deal. Keep the 6, I have seen a couple of those and it's worth it to see people's faces when you pop the hood and they see that 6 in there. When you're next to a BB at a light, and the guy revs the engine, just smile and let him jump out by himself when it turns green.

Nice find Tom!!
Actually, I've seen a few 6 cyl/PG RS Camaros.
In fact, my (future, at the time) bro-in-law owned one ('68 red/black) back in 1971 when I was still dating my wife.
Damn, I'm old... ;)

Old men usually won't sell anything, it's the old Ladies that sell things too cheap or give them away. Nice find! If you just want to turn it, my e-mail works.

Camaros with sixes aren't that unusual, but as for an RS...

I have only seen 1 1967 RS with a six; convertible. I also have only seen 1 1968 Camaro RS with a six; again a convertible. That one was in Wiliamsburg VA back in '87. It had a 250, Custom interior, a console with a 3-speed manual (had a 3-speed shift map, rare). The car was black with a white top & nose stripes, plus white interior. Did you know that you could also get 4-speeds with sixes on 1st gen Camaros from the factory?

Yup, the sixes have surprisingly good bottom end torque, especially when you consider the smaller displacement. They run out of steam at higher revs due to carburation, manifolding, mild camshaft specs...
