This is the first motor I really studied this combo and matched heads cam intake , it really paid off . I went with a small roller cam from Jones cam designs / 10.6 comp Ross forged pistons ARF COMP 195 heads I really wanted the 210 heads but was told the 195 heads would make the torque I was looking for. Eagle crank 6'' rods. Dart dual plane intake /Quick Fuel 780 Vac carb. DUI HEI. I was old school I thought big cam /heads / carb was best. Bigger is not always better. This motor is just right for my heavy chevelle with my 700r4 and a 411 gear.

Yup. Kinda what I excpected when I read the title!
I also have the "small" 195 comps on my 91 octane 406 but with a modestly sized SR.
Freight train is what comes to mind.
I am in the process to start to have another engine built for boost this time.
Going to be 400ci or larger aftermaket block this time.
Little M probably.
No way was I going smaller.
Not coming from the monster I had.
I could dispute the whole bigger thing with MY personal experience but it's not worth it
Enjoy your "small block"

My attempt at the 406 took awhile to sort out but the results were more than what I was expecting. AFR 190s (old castings), 238/510 HR, 6 in. rods, 750 vacuum secondarys, T56 and 4.10s running on 28in tires. This thing pulls hard from idle to as far as I've taken it....no tach and it's still around 1000 miles or so.
Would build another but as mentioned, probably go aftermarket block next time.

What are the cam specs?
Old school ladder bars, not sure on that though.

Old school ladder bars get a bad rap. They really work if you just articulate the front mount. If you don't, they will bind.

Yep that should do the trick.
I built a 385" and 11.9 compression with 175cc heads and the comp 280H magnum cam.
Big mistake.
[email protected] .050 on a 110 LSA installed 106 intake centerline.
That thing was brutal on tires.
my little 350" before that would hook up very well and this thing was Impossible to hook to the pavement.
Rolling at 50 I could roast them.

I could not imagine how well yours is doing.
I bet it is fun :)
