I just completed a rough install of an SS dash harness and engine harness. The car is being converted to a floor shift from a column; 72 Chevelle. If I am installing a console do I have to move the switch to the shifter? otherwise, how does the console light up?

It depends on what trans, auto or man, you're using and what shifter, factory or aftermarket. For the lighting a gauge dash harness will have the connector for the factory console lighting, it will have three wires orange and white for the console back light and a gray wire for the shift indicator (auto trans) not used for man trans.
