ok i have a small block with a long water pump on it and power steering on the left front. I want to relocate the alternator to the left front above the powersteering and install my vintage air on the right were the alternator was. I need to now what brackets to buy i also have headers on it everything i have seen is for the short water pump.

I would like to stay with the stock pulley system if at all possible
and want to get them tight to the motor do like the look of the wide system like the one shown above. Didnt like early 70's chevy truck come with the alt on the left with a long water pump?

My 1967 El Camino original 327 setup was P/S and Alternator on drivers side. All waterpump/exhaust manifold mounted bracketry. I think it is a long pump.

Ed, check the distance between the back of the water pump to the front of the timing cover. If the gap is about an inch it's a long water pump, if there is almost no gap it's a short water pump. Chevrolet passenger cars didn't use long water pumps until 1969.

there was no factory long water pump setup that had the alternator on the driver's side..

what's the objection to putting the AC compressor on the driver's side? you just wind up with slightly longer hoses.

OK thanks a bunch. I guess I do still have original short setup then.
Here is what mine looks like now on a ZZ4. I know we changed the water pump so the accessories would match up, which meant we needed to change the timing cover, so I should have known it was a short pump setup.
Can the OD still use this type of setup?
(And no, that fan is not in use, we have a clutch fan and partial shroud we worked on)
