I thought I knew what was correct, but am now thoroughly confused.

These two pumps seem to be the same, with different pump covers:

B.

Or...do I need this:

Actually, I just noticed that the first motor and pump shown (A), seems to be the same pump as B, using the last cover shown. I think you can see the edge of the motor housing running through the rectangular hole.

Does anyone have any knowledge?

This my original hidden wiper motor from my 71 (waiting restoration). This should help you.

You may want to contact Steve Hakel at restoration services.net as he restores wiper motors and might have units for sale. This is who I plan on using to restore mine in the very near future.

Just went through this same issue.

The top photo does have the wrong cover. It is also a "2nd Design" Washer Pump w/ a "1st design" wiper motor.

The second photo is a 1st design motor and pump.

The third photo is a 2nd design motor and pump. The 3 pins for the motor are now not hidden. But the pump cover is for a Pulse Delay system. Given the window and a third hole for the third washer pin.

Either one will work. Its just how "correct' do you want it. Mines the 2nd design.

Yep, second design for mine also. It's the car's original wiper motor which I had restored by Steve Hackel
