need help troubleshooting

I have a recently rebuilt (2000 miles ago) LS5 71 chevelle that has started smoking out the drivers side. The odd thing is it only smokes when at a dead stop. My friend followed me to a car show saturday. We drove 60 miles and never came to a complete stop until we arrived at the event. It never smoked along the way as we passed through many small towns, rolled all the lights and stop signs, went through the gears many times and the entire RPM range but nothing above 3000 rpm. I have been told the valve guides or rings may be the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

If that is not it...2000 miles....

Smelling burning oil? Seep on the header?

What do the spark plugs look like?
Betcha you've not pulled the plugs to look///

Some rings take forever to seat....(454HO rings seldom seat, sorry HO guys, had to say that). To seat the rings....
Run her HARD in say second gear to 5000 rpm or so, let off and let her wind down, then get on her again.....do this until you are arrested, your car is outa gas, or you are late for dinner. Seriously...3-4 times usually will seat the rings....

If you can see the valvetrain with the PCV removed, you do not have a baffle.
GM puts stuff in certain places for good reasons (most of the time).

The ceramic on the plugs near the electrode should be tan
black gooey is a sign of oil
number your spark plug wires with tape, remove the wires, pull the plugs....
