I'd like to source an aluminum radiator for my 66 big block but I don't want to mortgage my house. I'm not looking for original look I just want it to work well so I can drive everyday. I still need to source the fan and shroud as well. I could go factory on the fan and shroud but I'd like to save some money there too. Anybody?

I just put a summit direct fit in my 68. They have them for your year too. It works great, I used my stock shroud with only the most minor of mods. I am very happy! Dont spend all the money on that Alumitech, the quality is great, but unless trying to look original, its not worth it. IMO of course.

Here's my 2 cents: You can save a buck and buy from an aftermarket Co. that probably has them made in China and eat your savings up in aggravation trying to make it fit properly. There's been alot of horror stories about radiators not fitting right and having to jury rig them.

My solution: Wait till ya save up enough $$ to do it right and buy an Alumitech right off. Mine fit perfectly, looks professional, cools my 396 on hot days and was a pleasure to install. I had to call Don for some tech advice but try doing that with the other parts Companys. Half these guys on the phone have never seen a 66 Chevelle much less know about them.

My last advice: Buy an 18" 35 degree 7 blade fan with a Delco Clutch and you'll never go wrong. Good Luck-It's an uphill battle...!!

GP Superstores, one of the sponsers, is hooked up to sell aluminum radiators at a real good price. I just ordered one for the Nova. If interested click the link on the front page, log into the forums and go to wanted buys and then to alumitech group buy, scroll down a couple of threads. Frank quoted me a price for a 66 in that thread. These are not alumitech radiators that was just the name of the thread.

I went with an aluminum Northern brand radiator after getting a lot of advice from others that used it. Much cheaper then many other competitors, like mid 300's. I havent installed it due to the cars full restoration process. Im not to that point yet, but I can say it is a direct fit. I am very happy with it. Matches the original one perfectly.
