Hi guys and gals..

I have been trying to track down some parts for a few years and have found someone who has what Im looking for. this is not a 3rd party Ebay or racingjunk ad.. Just a private party.. I asked if I could use his paypal account to make payment and he agreed. Im getting some detailed pictures of the parts before I commit..

My question is am I protected by paypal for fraud if I buy through a private party? Is there anything else you guys would do in this type of transaction?

nothing has raised an flags yet.. and Im hopefull this will go smoothly.. But Im a natural born skeptic..;)

Go to PayPal for "protection" information.

Sometimes you just have to trust your gut based on dealing with the person.

I "shipped out" $1700 to a person for my tri-power, based on the communication that we had leading up to the sale.

I was not disappointed and we still communicate by email on a regular basis. I have done several other PayPal transactions with members and strangers. All went well.

Unfortunately many members have had issues, so there's no guarantee.

I bought some software from a website, not eBay. I never received the key to register the software. I paid for it via Paypal and after three weeks I got a full refund from Paypal. Unfortunately you get a credit which you can use for something else.

I use PP all the time and have not had any issues with them, nor have I had to use their arbitration. My advice when dealing with someone remotely is to talk to them on the phone. You'll get a much better sense of legitimacy over the phone than you will via e-mail. Good luck!

Reading right along..

The parts are in Colorado... Im in Minnesota.... so going to look at them isnt an option for what they are..
Try getting in touch with a Team member near where the parts are and have them take a look.
