Email him asking for a phone number to call and discuss the car. Politely attempt to get his ballpark asking price before you waste your time driving there.

It's not wise to push potential buyers to bid through Ebay as he could be leaving serious buyers on the table.

I did send an email with my # and asking for his, just prior to posting this. I advised I was a local cash buyer. We'll see if I get a response.

Saw on the bottom where questions are asked, someone did ask about a buying now and the seller's answer was "no, bid on item instead."

Mike...yeah if they'd call me back!

Jeff...I agree...if they don't have the courtesy to call of write back I may bid, show up with my cash and inspect it then, I'm not an eBay buyer/seller so don't care if they give neg feedback ...if the car isn't what it's stated to be ill walk away.

Boys I'm thinking of bidding I'm only about 50 miles from this car but I think seller wants bidding only, no coming to look without bidding at least that's the feeling I get.

Any info tips or advice on this would be very very helpful!!
If the seller is unwilling to let you see the car before bidding on eBay, likely he's got something to hide. If he's trying to discourage you as a local cash buyer to maximize his selling price on eBay, I can understand that. In any event, a seller who won't let me see the car isn't gonna sell me anything.

Steve, yeah he didn't really answer the question clearly about compression in the ad. Looks like he was talking about the pistons?

Randy, I'm getting that feeling too

Ryan, if the engine has 12-1 (domed) pistons and a large enough combustion camber to drop compression to a reasonable level it suggests he was either using parts he had laying around, or whatever he could get on the cheap. There are some odd combinations of parts on the car, either he was listening to to many people or there were several sets of hands that touched the car during its build.

It may be a nice car, but you are right about a physical inspection.

Steve thank you for that info . I felt like it was a weird combo too but I didn't know exactly why until now, thank you.

I don't know what its worth. I was thinking you were thinking more along the lines of where the bids are now. On another note, theres no way I would bid crazy money if I cant see it beforehand. The guy should welcome any potential buyer who wants to look it over. I would tell him to get bent, if he says bid first.

The seller isn't necessarily shady, if he has been trying to sell the car for a while who knows how many people he's dealt with. I would be surprised if it isn't a decent car. I think he has overpriced the car, likely based on what he has invested. The lack of willingness to deal with potential buyers may just be frustration with the selling process.

He might be better off by taking the car off the market for a while of consigning it with a dealer.
