I have a 383 stroker, TH400, shift kit, 3,000stall, 3.73 rearend.

Before I act, I wanted to ask y'all. A while back I changed the weights in the governor, because it was shifting at about 4000rpm WOT. I got it to shift 2nd to 3rd at about 6000rpm. Which is close to where I want it. However, when I was adjusting the governor, I never really tested 1st to 2nd shift due to grip on the street.
So this past weekend I went to the strip for T&T for the first time. I ran [email protected] w/a 1.78 60ft. But since I had traction on the strip I had a full first gear. Before I know it, I was at about 6700rpm in first gear. It wouldn't shif unless I let off the gas and romp it again. Sounds like it's a standard tranny goin down the strip. Haha

Correct me if im wrong, but the governor changes both shift points when a weight is changed. So how do I lower 1st-2nd without affecting 2nd-3rd. Valve Body?

Here's an in car view for example.

I used this kit to adjust the shift points on my TH400.

I shift 2-3 manually though, I have time for that with the 3,08`s :D

You need heavier weights or stiffer springs or both to go down.
See the other thread called "th400 shifting" for a little more info. Also I think I made a thread about my chages searching for some help, you´ll find it in my profile, if not let me know and I´ll find it.

Right. I understand how the governor works, and I have that same kit. Haha. My question was... How can I make first to second shift sooner without affecting second to third, without having to manually shift.

Thanks.

.... BTW, arnt we all self proclaimed "experts". Haha
