I've been running the Fram canister filter, the chrome and orange one with a Holley blue pump. The canister has started leaking and I can't stop it so I'm getting a new one. I plan to switch to the carter 172 fuel pump later so my question now is, would the same fram filter flow enough or should I buy a different filter at this time?

I'd expect that filter to flow more than an engine could use--90 gph will fuel a LOT of horsies.

I'd also be looking closely at that leak--is it a cracked filter head? I can't think of any reason you shouldn't be able to repair other leak sources besides a crack.

There are some rubber gaskets, but I think they come with a new filter element.

Get a filter that is an in-line and hide it somewhere before the Carter. Get one that is a screen type (coarser) and then use a finer element between the pump and the carb.

I had the HPG. Nice set up but was worried about flow rate.
