I've posted similar posts to this, but It's fresh on my mind again since I just bought tickets for Black Sabbath's first US show in Houston! Here are mine:

Bands:

Van Halen
Black Sabbath
Led Zeppelin
Scorpions
Bachman Turner Overdrive

Albums:

2112
Screaming For Vengeance
Pyromania
Heaven And Hell
Van Halen

This actually took a lot more thought than I thought it would. I collect rock LP's and I am currently building a great collection. I do go back and fourth on a few of these, but this is where I am for tonight anyway! Thanks for your input.

Bands.

Lynyrd Skynyrd
Eric Clapton (OK he's not really a band, just the best guitar player in the world) ;)
Deep Purple
ZZ-Top
Doobie Brothers

Albums.

Pronounced, Skynyrd
Second Helping, Skynyrd
Street Survivers, Skynyrd ( I see a trend here LOL)
Machine Head, Deep Purple
Rio Grande Mud, ZZ-Top

My album choices could change tomorrow. :p

Have you heard Yngwie Malmsteen? He hasn't been with any of my favorite bands, but his guitar playing is ridiculous! Check him out on Youtube.

I will not include the Beatles in Rock, I figure them more pop, otherwise they would be #1 on my list

Bands

The Who
Cream
The Doors
The Band (under appreciated)
Guns 'n Roses (yep, they were good, can't stand to look at them but great music)

Cream -Disraeli Gears (it changed everything, without it there is no Led Zepplin)
The Who -Who's Next
The Doors - Absolutely Live
Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde
Guns 'n Roses - Appetite for Destruction

Interesting list, but I do think LZ would have still made their mark in music history. They may not have had their off-tempo progressive sound, but they still would have made it on the talent they had alone.

Yes I've heard him. My cousin was nuts about him in the early 90's. He's good but just not to my tastes. The thing I love and respect the most about Clapton is there is not a style that he can't play. He's a true virtuoso (sp?)

Metallica: Load/Reload (i count them as one)
