My 12-year old scored this buck this morning at 7:20am. One shot at about 30 yards. This buck was with a doe and another buck about the same size. We've already made a trip to the taxidermist = $450 and the locker = $150. Memories for a lifetime = priceless! Deer scored 135.

30 minutes south of Des Moines. There are plenty out by my house but unfortunately they seldom wander onto my 5 acres.

Nice to see people are still teaching their kids to appreciate wildlife. Deer are a plentyfull renewable resource that should be harvested and used. There are so many whitetail and mule deer on my land that they have become a nuisance. Not enough people hunting anymore, what with the price of fuel, licenses etc. Then throw in this age of political correctness that says you are cruel to animals if you hunt. What is really cruel is watching these animals overpopulate, then disease and starvation set in to thin them out.

hell of a first deer! I bet he's stoked!! I still look a the first one I got and can remember it like it was yesterday. (it's been 24 years)
I can't wait to get my 7 yr old out into the woods again this year
