Finally was able to find my dream car, sort of…

yesterday I bought a 67 Corvette Roadster…

my dream was a coupe, but I couldn’t pass ip

block was decked, but everything is correct for a 67 L79 (aluminum intake, correct casting number block, finned valve covers, big 8” balancer.). M21 4-speed, 3.70s, rally’s…

black with white soft top…. Was stolen at one time, and ViN & Trim tags removed. State-issued vin tag, but original 67 Corvette ViN sequence…. Looks like it may have Marina Blue.

it’s really a 10-footer…

light project, been parked for quite a few years.

I guess this will push back my 66 Chevelle project, yet again…

One of my bucket list cars too and the right color!!
Never liked any verts til I had one. Granted it was a hoopty C4 but still...youll dig it after awhile if you dont already.
Can always add that L78 and have the best of both worlds!

Whats your honest driving impressions of the handling steering etc?
Drove a members 62 roadster and it was tough to get an impression as Im tall and the big steering wheel made it tough to drive.
Id sell my Camino in a sec to get the right C1-2...maybe even early C3. If I won the lotto

There really is no comparison when you drive a correctly restored mid year to a Chevelle. Once you drive one your know why they were almost double the price of a Chevelle when new. Mid years once done right are very refined, nimble and all around better. I love my Chevelle but once behind a wheel of a mid year you know it

Well, right now it pulls hard to the right under braking…. Seriously hard.

I had the wheels off, and the drivers front caliper, the pads were loose. With the springs the pads should always be touching the rotor …. Brakes were rebuilt and everything looks great externally , supposedly stainless sleeves. But the guy rarely drove it the last 10-15 years…

two new front calipers already ordered….

next, the tires look new. Full tread, little nubs/tits, NO cracking…. But I think the date code was 2012? Or was it 2002? Shakes bad on the Highway ( smoothed out after 10 miles). I think they are flat spotted…

Manual steering, so mor fun to park, but seems fairly tight on the road.

I rebuilt the carb with a kit the guy included. I think the PV is wrong. Idles rich, and surges at a cruise. I need to find my vacuum gauge and remember how to tune a Holley ( been 24+ years)…

water pump leaks, do I am ordering a new EMP/Stewart Stage 1, and I’ll replace all the hoses and T stat.

got all ignition parts on the way. I’ll have to remember how to set points…

mainly looking to get it running well and safe…
