My engine test stand

During the Christmas break my neighbor came into my garage while I was cleaning parts on the big block. We were just bs'ing and I happened to mention I was thinking about building a stand to test run it before I dropped it into the car. The next afternoon he called me over for a beer and there on the floor was most of the metal all cut. So far here is where he is at with it. It is a sweet ride lol

That's odd. Usually my friends would say that's great. Then come back when it was built, borrow it and then never return it. I gotta get new friends.:D
your neighbor ROCKS!! wish I had one of those (a neighbor that nice OR a test stand!!)
That's pretty awesome! Just too bad it's a coors light holding it down, it'd be better if it were a Coors Original instead... you know, the Bankquet Beer, gold label!

LOL Ya me to and my brand!:beers: Nice Job!
Usually we read here about the neighbor from he$$ but your guy sounds like the neighbor from heaven. :) Looks like he's in to rat rods. You gonna' have video of the startup for us. ;)

He is actually a very talented fella. Unfortunatley he is out of work right now. He has made me feel guilty for all the time he put into this. I have been feeding some cash.
He is building the rat rod for a friend of his. I will get some pictures of it.
It is done, well almost. I have to mount an electric fan on it

That's great! I'm thinking about making one too, Did your guy make notes?

Dan
We got to try out this test stand yesterday. A friend bought a used gm crate 350hp 350 a while back. We put it on the stand yesterday and fired it up. This thing is great and a lot of fun for a bunch of guys on a saturday in the garage.
A few minor glitches I have to correct yet. My throttle linkage design was a bit flawed, I have to tweak that a bit. The electric fuel pump leaked more fuel than it pumped so we just used the mechanical pump. I am going to move the electric fan to the front of the rad for a bit more clearance as another friend wants to fire up a blown 468 BBC on it. I also have another request for someone to fire up a fresh 350 in a couple of weeks. I should have all the minor bugs worked out of the stand by the time I have my 496 ready to run. I will try a post a couple pics from yesterday

Looks similar to the one my buddy built. The Nova 406 was broke in on it.

Sounds like the word got out! :D
These look great. I have to do a start up on my BB and the chassis is nowhere near ready. Is there anybody near me that has one of these? I am outside the Apple.
I built mine so I could retorque the heads and check for leaks. Just used scrap I had in the junk bin.
