I was out in Ca a couple weeks ago and decided to drive the 70 down and make a few passes. Track conditions were terrable, 2600' Da combined with a 35+MPH headwind and untreated track. Everyone was off .3~.5 some more. They shut the track down for over an hour right after I ran. Second pass I tried some smaller front tires, and the wind died down. Picked up 9 MPH! but track was so bad I had to back out twice in the 60' I know this truck has a low 11 sec pass in it on a good track without that wind, 60' should be in the mid 1.4's. On the 11.70 pas my 60' was only 1.57 walking it out the first 10-15'. I built this engine over 4 years ago. This is one of the first engines Mark and I worked together on. It has a cast crank, and stock rods. This truck has been driven dialy for months at a time, and cross country more than once. Just a testament of Marks top notch machine work. Valvetrain is still rock solid, and not a hint of blowby.

Just imagine the possibilities, Hm a 4900 pound lifted four wheel drive truck, running through a transfer case, 35 inch mud and snows, head wind from hell, running 11.70s, I wonder what that would run in a 3600 pound chevelle set up right, Johnny Hunkins could you just imagine the possibilities. Anybody out still think those 505s we sell dont make 650 HP?Mark

Where's the hood? It does leave good. My son had a '71 that he ran for a while and it left real good too.
Thank's Guy's! I smashed the cowl induction hood on a tree up in the mountians a couple of years ago. I just pull the hood off to get fresh air to the engine, and so people can see Im not running N2o.

i I dont do buisness on the forum, but you might want to check out ebay, if you only run mid 10s in a camaro with that engine, theres something wrong with the car setup, we have run mid 10s in Denver with that type of 505, 9000 feet DA, @ 3480 pounds.

Jarret, Are the specs on Mark's 650HP 505 the exact same as your current set up??
Very similar. Same cam, CR, my 505 has a cast crank, 6.135'' rods and is external balanced. Marks engins have a forged crank, 6.385'' scat rods, and are internal balanced. My rotating assembly is lighter, but Marks heads flow better. All the engines we sell now come with forged cranks.

Did you engage the transfer case after the burn out? If not, have you tried it in 4 wheel drive?
I run this truck in 2WD with ET streets on the back. The front driveline angle is too steep to launch in 4wd on concrete. It breaks the CV joint.

Garrett, get a fiberglass bolt on hood and make your truck look complete. My son had a longbed and it only weighed 4080 lbs. with him on board. Surely adding the heavy oversized tires and wheels and four wheel drive doesn't add 800 lbs. more. If it does you could go a lot faster with lighter components.

My truck is a 3/4 ton factory 4x4. The frame is approx 75~100LBS heavier than a 1/2 ton 2wd. My truck has all the power accessories, heater, tail gate etc. I run with 15 gallons of fuel in my 20 gallon tank. If you add up all the little things weight adds up fast, but to be honest the weight isn't the problem with this truck it is the wind drag, and parastatic losses. I could get another fiberglass hood but the 40 lbs it saves doesn't make a bit of difference on my truck. The cowl just added clearance so I could run the tall air cleaner.

-33x12.50 mud terrain's on 15x10 wheels weigh 85LBS each. A std 2wd truck tire and wheel weigh ~45LBS so there is 160lbs
-Cast iron NP 205 T case with adapter is ~140LBS
-Front driveline with cv joint and slip yoke is ~35lbs
-Front diff adds at least 150lbs over a 2wd cross member
-Steering stabelizer and front truss adds 40 lbs to front end
- 14 bolt rear end is 100lbs heavier than a 1/2 ton 12 bolt
-3/4 ton rear springs add 50lbs over 1/2 ton, or trail arms.
-Traction bars, and brackets weigh 25LBS each side
- Rear lift blocks weigh 10lbs each
-speaker box and amp 60lbs
-reciever hitch 40lbs
=845LBS

Take away 65LBS for the hood and your still at ~780lbs.

Jarrett,

There is always someone that knows more about your ride than you do.
Folks on this board have told me that Marks 355 cannot produce the HP and TQ it does, and others have told me my 65 weighs more than 3250.

Funny how they have never seen your truck except for a video but know more about it than you do.
