I am currently building a 66 chevelle which will have a big block in it once completed. I have a saginaw 4 speed, however, I have always planned on using a Muncie M20 or M21 for this project. Budget restraints have got me thinking about using the Saginaw for the time being until I can scrape up the cash to buy a freshly rebuilt Muncie. I know the M20 and M21's are a much better tranny, but how well will an old Saginaw hold up with a big block? Is it even worth considering or should I just wait to get the muncie?

Saginaw is a pretty poor choice if you want to feel the extra power of the BB... If you don't bang gears or try hard launches, it should last quite a while...

AND, if its a fresh motor, it could cause you to break it in a little easier...

As a bonus, the Muncie should bolt right in place once you get it (assuming its the same intake/output spline, Muncie had two variations). Needs a different shifter, but thats about it...
