Over the past 40+yrs, I've had several ears welded onto Muncie cases. The key is to find a welder who is very experienced at welding alum.
First, I bolt the case and the broken ear to a CAST IRON case (or steel scattershield would be fine).
Then I use a C-clamp to pull down the corner where the ear is broken off.
Once everything is in place and securely mated between the bell housing and Muncie case, they can be welded. Separate and weld the front side of the ear to the case and grind down the welds after cooling.
As I mentioned, the key is to find a very experienced welder that can do a very solid alum weld.
This is an ear after welding, grinding the weld and smoothing.
