1965 I know
Supposedly a 'late' 1965 transmission
But can someone tell me if it's corvette or chevelle specific?
I'd guess a chebby muncie

i'm just curious....and wouldn't mind learning how to better ID them, if possible
M20/m21/m22 and whatnot...without pulling it apart (I know a/b/c for later muncies)
mainly that VIN # on this one...what that might mean
I understand i might have to count gears to tell between m20 and m21

With the "P" number stamped on the side cover flange, that says 1964 model year...
1965 model year and later Muncie's had "P" number stamped on right side of main case...
The top boss of the main case where the middle top tail housing bolt goes should be rounded in front...
The rounded boss was used into the early 1965 model year...
Hope this helps... Crash
