Talked to a guy at NAPA today and he tells me his "vintage" book calls for 425 cold cranking amps for my application. He thought that was a little low for a big block and suggested not going with anything less than 600 or 700 cold cranking amps.
Am I correct in thinking that it won't damage or harm anything electrically to go with extra cranking amps?

He also said the book calls for side post mount instead of the current top post mount which someone may have changed. Anyone know off hand what was original for an SS big block or should I ask in Restoration?

Thanks again,

CCA is the battery capacity. Won't hurt going big. I run 875 CCA with a small block just because it didn't cost me any more.
