Currently I run a 4" Harwood fiberglass lift off hood on my 68. I'm looking to get rid of the cowl but I want to retain the fiberglass liftoff feature.

Does anyone make a flat styled lift off hood?

Has anyone ever removed a cowl from a fiberglass hood?

I'd cut 3" out (or so) from the sides of the cowl and just drop it down to a normal cowl hood myself. Instead of a chop top you'd have a chopped hood. The fiberglass is easy to work with in this case.

I'm sure somebody makes a flat hood, I don't know who. I've Worked with glass and epoxy for years, the last project I'd try is making a cowl hood flat.

But shortening the 4in to a 1 or 2in might not be as bad? I just don't have a need for a cowl at all and I don't like the look anymore. Plus its in the line of sight when driving.

If you're buying a new hood, I would stay away from the unlimited products stuff. a quick search here will give you and good idea of some of the other member's experiences with their stuff.

Yea I've heard about UP stuff being bad. Thanks for the help guys I will probably try to cut a couple of inches off of my hood. Ill post pictures when I do.

Take a good look at my up22 hood........fit's like crap. Bows in the middle bad.
