Well I went and sold my 72 2 months ago, and swore off another project until the chevelle is at least insured and on the road, BUT, there is a 70 project up for sale, one of those no motor, tranny, wiring, back glass is gone, (I just sold one last month) disc brake bench seat car with a 10 bolt. and a SS hood. Hes asking 1200 for the thing. Wife isn't too thrilled with the idea, seeing how the side yard is completely cleaned and the chevelle is in one of those portable enclosures. and my garage is empty enought that I can do things in there again.but I figure it doesn't cost anything to look, right?

I'm kinda in the same situation. I building the Elky for my dad. I know that my mom has always wanted a VW convertible. No problem, when I get the Elky done, I'll get the beetle. Figures, there is one in need of resto that appeared about 1 mile from my house. I think the wife would kill me if she knew what I am thinking. We live in a rural area, but she rolls her eyes everytime she sees the car(frame in the shop, body outside, front clip inside).

It sure is a lot easier to buy them than complete them. I was having thoughts about getting another car , but took a look in my garage and my back yard. Too many incompletes and I am starting to be honest with myself. Having said that, I will probably come across another irrestistable deal in the next few months. Anyway, my back yard has room for more.

went and looked at it today, my wife wasn't too thrilled, the car looks pretty solid, in need of inner fenders, radiator, brake booster gone, bed chrome, rear window chrome, seat is just springs,no door panel, might as well say the interior is a dash, column is hurting, and in the bed. no windshield, grille is broke, tail lights broke. I'm going to see what his best good guy price is, as much as it needs everything I really want it, but I should just put the money into my chevelle and be happy with what I have. Jim

Talked to the gentleman today, I asked what his best good guy price was, he said he'd like $1000 and he would deliver it to my door, actually JWagner, could almost throw a rock at it from his back yard. only problem is he needs to get a bonded title for it before he can sell it. No problem there, main problem I have is. do I need a car like this? or do I want a car like this? I think it's going to take at least a week to get the registered letter sent back and forth, so I may go and look at it again next weekend with a more of a critical eye. Hopefully someone else will just buy the thing and I won't have to worry about it. Jim

called him and told him thanks but no thanks, I decided to pull the G body spindles out of my chevelle and go back to the correct spindles, so I'll need to buy bushings, tie rod ends and ball joints. I figure I might as well do one car well instead of two cars half a$$ed, Jim

i feel your pain. i am almost finnished with a 70 LS6 coupe. and was on a back country road, stopped and inquired about a 72 elk that was way inside a barn. well the guy told me he was thinking of restoring a 79 elk he had. he traded the 72 with a 12 bolt to me for a set of 79 elk fenders and hood i had. now how do i break this news to the wife at valintines day.
