Did see a fella oiling up the linkages on his older Mustang at public park/fishing spot in SLC, and a dragstrip in the middle of nowhere on the UT/WY border. Oh, and a fella in his Sunday best going to Meeting in his classic shoebox Chevy.

The car kulture in SLC seems to be lots of FRI/SAT night ramblin'. Tons of fart pipe imports, as you'd expect. Here it makes more sense even to have fun with something you can boost, due to alt. Didn't check out any sort of dragstrip , as I assumed there were closed. The little one up by Evanston, WY sure was.

Other than the nearby salt flats, any decent racing in that neck of the woods in summer? Really enjoyed the area and hope to return soon.

Nope. Donny wanted to see the diesel bros shop, so we did. Frankly, I spent more time hiking the hills in WY , than in the smoggy haze of SLC. The air quality in Buffalo NY blows away the air quality in Salt Lake City. Something I wouldn't have guessed.

Wy had a full on NHRA rated drag strip. It closed in 2015. City was going to build a jail or animal shelter on the property.
The local car club managed to run an 1/8 mi race last year, maybe more in the future.
Local business love when 100 out of town cars and support crews show up. Town fathers MEH

Hey, I liked the SW corner of WY so much, I'm trying to conjure up a way to start a publicly traded trona mine. The four that mine trona are all foreign owned. I'm dreaming of course, I know jack about mining. But I know a little about raising capital.

All to have just enough $$ to buy a few acres and a homestead. Aint cheap in that neck of the woods. I can afford to retire as a country boy in NY; but not in CO, UT or even WY. :(

And even tho I'm no racer, am blessed to have two nice tracks within a 1/2 hr of our house.

The things I'd give up for a 1000+ yd shooting range. ( and to be not made a felon by the prince of NY for my home rolled black rifles.)
