I recently installed a 10-1639 reman master cylinder. It appears that the secondary port(9/16) is too deep. My fitting appeared to bottom out when installed. I bled the brakes. But a few days later there is fluid on the fitting. Has this happened to anyone else? Should I try another master and check depth? Can you buy some kind of deep extension. What would you do?
Thanks, David.

sometimes you have to "seat" things together.. try doing a bunch of tighten/loosen cycles on that fitting- just tighten it and loosen it a few times- if it turns a little farther each time you tighten it, then that's all you needed to do.

Are there any more threads left sticking out of the hole on the nut. If so just break it loose and retighten a second time. You should be using a line wrench so you don't round over the nut edges when your tightening it up.

guys, if the fitting is already bottomed out re-tightening it isn't going to be the answer.

DO you have a NAPA within reach? In their NAPA Temp line usually used for heating and A/C they have conical soft copper washers just for this type of problem. Also work for beat up lines and seats.

I'm willing to bet that the flared seat was never re-installed during reman. Pull the line back off and look to see if there is a tapered seat for the line to seal against. .02
