My Chevelle has manual steering, and I want to keep it that way...

What are some options as far as rebuilding, replacement boxes, new quick ratio boxes, etc?

Any good links?

I am thinking of 275/40-17 sticky tires up front, so a quick ratio might give my arms quite a workout...:D

Ya know we used to put a corvette worm gear in the old boxes, not sure of which box or the gear number, but we used them on our racecars and they worked great. Ralph

Thanks Mark... 24:1, 20:1 and 16:1 ratios... $320, but doesn't say if they are rebuilts or new...

I wonder what ratio the stock box is...
The stock box should be 24:1, more info at www.corvettesteering.com if you are curious. They list the 20:1 as a fast ratio. I'm not sure if the 16:1 is stock to any car or is an aftermarket ratio. I want to get a 16:1 and try it. If I don't like it, I will probably go power at that time.

i know early Z/28 Camaros came standard with a fast ratio manual steering box- imagine a manual box with less than 3 turns lock to lock.. you'd be stronger than Hercules if you had to parallel park that thing more than once a week.
