Hi. I'm thinking of switching from a manual steering box to a manual rack and pinion and was wondering if anyone has done this type of mod? My car is a '64 Chevelle. I'm thinking of a Mustang II rack because of ease of mounting. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rob

I'm planning on doing the same thing to mine, but I went with a pinto rack. I actually thought these were easier to mount because one side is a clamp. It won't be until the winter though because I'm doing a motor and mid plate setup also.

does anyone make a rack that won't cause all sorts of bumpsteer issues once you start driving it?
if not, don't bother with the swap.

There's one, Flaming River, but it costs $2700  and uses a big cradle to mount it, and a bracket between the ends to move the tie-rods inboard, which eliminates the one good reason for R&P... weight.
