Pump began to make an unusually "different and loud sound" so I thought it a good time to remove it and service it. I purchased a seal kit #3165 for the pump from summit and the kit showed up today at the front door. Since the kit comes in a small bag of part's, brushes, wire's, seal's and grommets and the like you would think that they would include some directions with the repair kit. So, I called and ended up with Prestolite tech who said he cannot locate any instructions for the service kit which they sell. So he then told me insrtuctions are not available with the kit's but I could send them the pump and the have a rebuilding service. He transferred my call to some girl named Jessica but I only got the standard voicemail with no customer service and no returned call. I once thought Mallory was a good reputable company but now I have some serious doubt. I am looking at other products.

I had a Mallory 250gph pump, needed to be rebuilt

I couldnt get in touch with them to get the kit part # to save my life, I was on hold 2 hours. I couldnt wait, We were exchanging the phone with different people on hold

I got a rebuild kit, repaired it, Made sure it worked and gave it away for free to my buddys son

He loves it

I think a smart 12 year old can rebuild one, and just to prove it, I took mine apart and put it back together with no instructions :D You can't judge a company by the ditzy blonde they have answering the phone, LOL.

Given the option I would always rather have a set of instructions. I've seen the case where knowing one key thing could mean the difference between success and failure. Plus it usually saves a ton of time.

I've rebuilt the one I have before as well. My point is that when a company seel's a small parts kit such as this $38. kit it should at least be user friendly. I suppose that since Prestolite is the parent company it is about the bottom line and not the customer. GM didn't listen to their prosective buyer's either. These people need to realize that we have Many other options.
