I am assembling the bottom end of my pontiac 400. One of the main bearings has a little nick in it where I can catch my fingernail on it. Is there anything I can do to this, or do I need a whole new set for 1/2 of a bearing? All the places seem to sell these in sets only.

Bearings are clevite 77, FWIW.

often, if it's just in the soft top layer you can knock it off with a pocket knife. Or, tap it down with a ball-pein hammer. just gotta be careful.
