Hi, my friend is swapping an LT1 from a 95 caprice into a 66 El Camino and have a couple questions.

What kind of radiators have guys used? Will the stock radiator work?
Are there issuses with the LT1 oil pan clearing the crossmember?
Is it necessary to modify or replace the gas tank for the fuel return line.

I really appreciate your help with this and any other info on the swap is welcomed.

Thanks...

We'd like to use an original 3 row radiator so there's no problem bolting it to the core support.

Does anyone make upper and lower hoses that have different diameters at each end to accomodate the larger connections on the stock rad, versus the smaller hose connections on the LT1 motot?? thanks for the help.

Are there issuses with the LT1 oil pan clearing the crossmember? I'll let you know in a few weeks, my LT1 is still in the cop-car. I don't think it's a problem, though.
Is it necessary to modify or replace the gas tank for the fuel return line. You will need an electric fuel pump and return line. Internal pump is preferred. I still haven't decided what I'm doing on mine yet.

Other tips: headers may require a Corvette accessory drive bracket, or if no A/C, use a 1LE compressor-delete pulley.

Post pictures when you're done! :)

I dropped a 96 LT1 motor into my '72 chevelle a couple of weeks ago and there was no problem with the fit. I modified the crossmember under the trans to keep it way forward in order to keep the stock parking brake cable setup. The Caprice radiator looks like it will fit with a little fabrication. The Caprice steering gear looks like it will go in this week, so I will have an all -metric pump and plumbing. The Caprice hoses seem to fit well ,so far.

Aren't the inlet & outlets reversed on a LT1? Upper right & lower left on the radiator I think.
