I have a LS6 Im trying to restore. The carb is a 780 Holley. I noticed that when I bolt the carb down to the top of the plate Im hitting the accelarator pump lever in the front. This cant be normal!!! It looks as though I may need a bit more spacing under the carb. Would anyone have any suggestions. The heat sheild came with a small paper thin gasket between the carb and the sheild and a much thicker gasket between the sheild and manifold.

Thanks

The heat shield you are trying to put on is not original equipment. It is a counter part. I have run these before and you need a thicker base gasket to make it work or flip the gaskets around (put the thicker one on top thin on bottom). They look kind of neat on there though.
