In 1992 at the Chevelle showdown thier was an open forum on detailing the 1970-1972 undercarrage and component finishes.
All undercarrage components were discussed and it was mentioned that nothing was written in stone. The forum was hosted by Frank Serafine, Super Chevy Limited, Brian Caudell, Caudell Paint and Details, Jeff Dotterer, owner of bowtie muscle car parts and others.
It is out of this forum that the driveshaft was said to be:
Driveshaft=natural (bare steel)
Driveshaft ends=natural (cast gray)
Driveshaft Yoke=natural (cast gray)
Thier were other paint markings on the driveshaft, but I don't remember the exact colors or the placement of them. If I can find the article I will let you know.

should be three rings of color near the middle. Colors would be on your build sheet in the prop shaft box.

I have seen Blue/pink/blue or pink/blue/pink. However I recently took on an LS-6 restoration and the car came with two original driveshafts. Both had VERY wide pink and blue stripes (two only) and a narrow orange or red stripe???? I have never seen that before and I will restore them that way.

Albert,
I also thought they we Black not blue as all previous LS-6's I have done were that way. However, the car I am doing is an 18k all original Baltimore car and came with an extra driveshaft with VERY original striping still in tact so I am confused. I am dulpicting them exactly how I found them. I recently posted a photo of it in sYc which I am sure you already saw.

I note on this link it shows most only two colors - also BL - BK - believe is Blue Black.

This morning I tore down my third LS-6 this month. Guess what..........blue and pink stripes! I guess I need to rethink this a little. The shaft does not appear to have the red or orange band like the other two but 1 pink and 1 blue???? Baltimore car.

I have always seen three stripes as well. Between these latest three shafts, this is the first time I have seen the orange band on them as well. Never say never as they say.
