I've been told that a Corvette motor and tranny the tranny won't work installing in my 71 Chevelle is that correct? I'm looking at a 2013 Grand sport Corvette engine and transmission computer and wires.

Lots of LS swapped Chevelles out there. I put a 2014 Camaro L99 in my 65. Look at Holley Blackheart line of swap products, you can buy all the headers, mounts, crossmembers, etc you'll need from them in a kit. Well engineered stuff. Depending on what you do for tansmission will dictate if you'll need to modify the tunnel.

Because I'm looking at an engine and transmission out of a 2015 SS Chevrolet 6.2 with 40,000 miles on it he wants 9000 shipped. And he told me that an engine and transmission out of a Corvette would not fit in my Chevelle. He said the transmission will give you trouble.

The trans in c6 corvettes are mounted at the rear and have the rear end bolted directly to the trans. The front is bolted to the torque tube. The TR6060 is the same trans as as the camaro’s but you would need to use a standard style tail shaft. Not sure if the bellhousing from the vette would work (once you remove the torque tube) or if you would need a camaro (or standard) style bellhousing.

If you have the option to get a camaro LS3 and tr6060 i would go that route. Less messing around with it. Trans should bolt in with the proper crossmember and tranny mount. May have to beat the trans tunnle a little for clearance depending on what engine brackets you use.

This is what the trans setup looks like at the rear of the C6

If you can sell the transmission for 1500-2500 you you could off set the cost of the LS3 and purchase a TKX.

Absolutely go with the Holley swap parts. Their forward bias engine mounts make it much less likely to need to snip floor pan tin to get the trans to fit.

Jeff,

How does the LS3 in your 65 feel vs the 67 and the 502? I cant believe how strong my 6.2 Mustang runs vs the 502 in my 69. At least SOTP wise. But the Mustang is a little lighter which could be fooling me. Wondering how a 6.2 would perform in a full-weight Chevelle.

LS seem to put more power to the wheels then a equal hp BB or SB I guess the Accessory drive parts is more efficient then the old stuff. Read a thread where a 502 put 361 hp to the rear wheels with a tko600. That’s 5.3 territory all 323 cubic inches.

The LS3 is surprisingly powerful for a stocker with cam and long tube headers. It pulls really hard once hooked up in 3rd and 4th gear. Low and 2nd is spin city! It's a bit hard to compare since the 67 is an automatic vs. 6-speed manual in the 65. But it's no big block either, I would think the 502 has 100hp and 100 ft.lbs of torque on the 6.2L.
