I'm not sure about the cruise, I would like to know if I don't get it now would it be an easy addon or do I need to get the ecm reprogramed?
You can add it in. Here's the dakota digital link. It let's you use the old GM style switch which basically bolts on in place of you turn signal arm. I'd tell whomever I bought the harness from I plan on adding the dakota digital (aka Rostra) cruise control unit in the future so they'd make sure any harness changes necessary are made.

I was going to say cruise control is a simple 3 switch hookup but unfortunate it's a different story w/ the E38 ECMs. From what I read you need the BCM (Body Control Module) from the vette to get cruise control working without spending $500 on aftermarket stuff.

You need to sign up over on the corvette forum, they may be of more help. I literally googled "2006 corvette cruise control wiring" and got a bunch of hits including the complete 06 vette wiring diagram you could download from the vette forum, but have to be signed in to access it.

In speaking with Dakota Digital and Speartech, both have said the Dakota Digital works with the E38 without any problems, For Mike's build I'd talk to Speartechl and see what they said about building a base harness with the option of adding the cruise control in the future. Another option since he using an automatic tranny is he could talk to them about using the E67 ECM with Trailblazer SS flash so he doesn't have to add the Dakota Digital module.

I've done quite a bit of research since I'm building a 396 version of an LSA and wanted to use the E67 because it was used in the ZL1s and CTSVs plus has some additional features. In doing research the E67 was also used in the Trailblazer SS which used the ECM for cruise control rather than a BCM. So if you flash the ECM with that version of the software, it only requires adding the switches to make it work. The problem for me is GM didn't make a version of the software for a manual transmission that incorporated cruise control for in the E67 ECM. So some have said I'd need the BCM and at least 1 person says the have the Dakota Digital CRC-2000 version working but it took some settings changes in the ECM to get the 4K VSS working for the cruise control.

Here's a pdf on the function with the Trailblazer E67 software.

My understanding is Speartech builds their own harness and does their own ecm programming. I've exchanged emails with them a couple times on building an E67 based setup for my build. They specialize more in stock or near stock configurations than the high performance market.

FWIW - I have no affilliation with them.

From their website
"We have been building standalone wiring harnesses for the Gen 4 (58x) LS platform of engines since their inception.

We developed the first LS standalone wiring harness around 1996/1997 and have been building them in-house for thousands of automotive enthusiasts and professional companies around the world since then.

We build our LS swap harnesses on one of the many different live engine and transmission setups we have in-house which closely reflects the swap you are performing in your project at home or in the shop!

It is because of this process, our harnesses are the best running, looking, and fitting available.

The other major benefit of having us build your LS swap harness on one of our live engine and transmission setups is that we actually test run each and every harness we build prior to shipping. While your harness is running the engine, we have OEM GM diagnostic hardware and software hooked up to verify our work, and to help ensure trouble free operation once you receive the harness.

Once the LS swap harness has passed all of our diagnostic run tests, we cover it with our exclusive, heat resistant, woven fabric covering. This isn't a cheap see through plastic mesh covering, this is a nice quality covering and offers the correct fitting finish to your new Speartech harness that our customers expect.

The process and practices we choose to use takes a little more time, but we feel are necessary steps in order to ensure the end user has a good experience and gets something that "just works", and with proper installation, we know it will - we have already tested it on a live engine and transmission!

Put 23 years of GM Engineering experience - and now over 20 years spent perfecting the LS swap harness manufacturing process - to work for you!"
Speartech is the BEST !!!!!!!!

I've talked to Speartech and their price is outrageous. Told me I need to buy E38 from them because mine is for manual trans and I am running 4l80. Howell EFI is an honest company and will use them

How much is the price difference with apples to apples components (i.e. Harness, ECU, gas pedal, sensors, etc)?

I know sometimes you have to get a new GM base ECU software load if you're changing options.

Justin at Speartech want's 600 alone for ecm and howell will flash my E38 for 250 and sell and flash the T42 for 150. I still would need to find T42 and have it flashed through Speartech. The thing with Seartech is Justin says the E38 I haqve will not work because it's for manual trans. Phillip at Howell say no problem. So Speartech is 350 more and I have to get a TCM but Howell says they have a bunch and for 150 they include it. So I'm thinking it will be like 500 more

As long as the OS numbers are the same, you should be able to segment swap the automatic transmission segment for your transmission in from a different vehicle. You can't do a segment swap of simply any similar auto transmission from a different OS because it will cause a checksum error inside the newly blended OS. Maybe this is why your choice of an E38 PCM / TCM situation could cost so much - you could be in "custom OS" territory here.

That may be so but I don't have any knowledge of this. I just talked to Howell on the phone and am going by what they tell me. From what I understand and what I've been told by transmission guy at Automatic Transmission Design that all ECM's have the ability to run automatic or manual transmissions. The program for the ECM to work with the TCM is disabled. I think the TCM will be programed to the 4l80 which in turn will work with the ECM.
