Personally I would run the stock LS manifold & throttle body, unless it came out of a truck. Your wiring & computer options should be predicated on the vehicle the engine is removed from as well.

If you're semi-competent with automotive wiring, re-configuring a stock harness to remove all the emissions circuits is not a big deal. Find your self a stand alone harness with a fuse box to integrate the factory LS harness & PCM into your Chevelle, along with a modern fuse box upgrade vehicle harness from someone like AAW. Nothing about it is very complicated if you have the wiring diagrams & pin-outs, but it's very time consuming.

If wiring isn't your thing, there's plenty of vendors that sell plug & play LS conversion harnesses (not cheap) that you'll still need to integrate into the Chevelle's existing wiring. I would still recommend the AAW classic update harness for your specific year Chevelle to accept all the modern electronics you'll be running. Give them a call, they can help you decide what's best for your application.

Thanks Pete, so I should buy an engine with the harness and pcm. I'm not sure about wiring, if there are some kind of pictures and instructions somewhere I can d/l I could do it more than likely?

So all the sensors will hook up to that? Do I need a system to run a 4l80e transmission? Do they make a system that will control everything?
Holley Terminator X will do transmission and boost. Plus tunable, loggable, you can trigger a log at a specefic TPS percentage at the track. You can retard timing if you have wheel slip or wheelie bar sensor..The inputs and outputs can be anything you want, shock travel, you name it. It's actually simple once you learn it all. Disclaimer: I'm an Automation and Controls Technician by day, Wobbly Pop Mechanic by night lol. Might not be your cup of tea though.

If possible that's the route I would take. I bought a wrecked Camaro for my swap...had the entire harness, PCM & other random stuff I wound up using. I integrated the wipers, cruise control, front & rear discs, etc. along with the motor & trans.

LS1tech.com is a great resource for wiring diagrams & assistance with swaps & conversions. I haven't been on there in a long time since I completed my '67 with the LS1, but I can only imagine the amount of information to be found there has grown exponentially with the large number of guys going the swap route.

So Pete I do like the Idea of a new fuse panel, I would just buy the updated 70-72 panel? Do they have special panels for the ls swap? And also I really appreciate all information you provide.

I am thankful to anyone that has chimed in here, I have just purchased this car and am going to go the restomod road. I am planning on doing all the suspension with coilovers and any information would also be appreciated.

When I did my swap, AAW hadn't released the classic update harness. I used a generic harness with a modern blade fusebox from a company called E-Z wire. It actually worked out ok for me, but I would definitely use the AAW update harness if I did another build.

Here's the link. I would call them & see if they can customize it for your needs. Not sure if they do that, but it doesn't hurt to ask. This contains every circuit you need in the car other than the LS engine specific stuff.

Post a new thread in the suspension section for advice on that. Plenty of info here as well if you do some searches. There's so many options & plenty of ways to skin this cat, so it's all about your budget & how much you want to deviate from stock. I went with tubular arms front & rear, but didn't do coilovers. I loved my ride height, but had I to do it again, I might look into coilovers.

Again with so many choices out there, I hesitate to suggest anything without you doing a bunch of research first. Decide what you want from the car & go in that direction. If your goals are to autocross, you'll need to go extreme, if just a nice handling street cruiser, you don't need to spend nearly as much money.

2 words. Holley 302-2 oil pan. You can thank me later.
There really shouldn't be any other discussion about oil pans at this point. This is really the only pan to choose unless you're building a stroker.

But yet there is. Normally it's the guy who bought the knockoff and is asking how to get it to work.
